HIGH PERFORMANCE DIRECTOR

The National Ball Hockey Association of Canada (NBHAC) is pleased to announce Stephen Dockerty from Beeton, ON as the NBHAC High Performance Director.

Stephen brings an incredible expertise to this position through his dedication to the sport as a player, official, volunteer, executive and leader. The NBHAC is very excited at the passion and leadership he brings for advancing the game and his incredible vision for the sport.

Stephen was one of the first executive members of the Beeton Ball Hockey League and is a father to four kids of which three maintain his passion at the local and provincial level of play. His leadership shines with every player he comes across as evident with his successes as a player winning the Master’s Provincial Championship, but his greatest strengths are in relating to people from as young as Learn To Play through to Junior at the local, provincial, national and international levels of competition.

Over the twelve years he has coached at the house league in addition to coaching competitively in eight Provincials winning gold at six of them, a Summer Games Championship at the Girls U18, three junior National events and as General Manager of the Junior Team Canada program winning seven gold, one silver and one bronze since 2008. He is a wonderful sounding board for his players and staff ensuring he assists in providing the extra time to keep the players and staff focused and always maintaining his leadership.

He is very passionate about the sport and about giving opportunities while creating safe and supportive environments for growth at the men’s, women’s and minor’s level of play. He will work with the five General Managers and Staffs to share his vision of the sport and will work with all members across the country to continue growing the game nationally and internationally.

Leadership comes from the top and there is no finer leader within the sport and we all look forwards to working with Mr. Stephen Dockerty

2014 JTC JOB POSTINGS

Our goal is to build a program that is recognized as the best in world. We have a reputation for excellence in our sport coupled with a strong sense of community, which fosters growth. We will prepare and assemble a Team of Ball Hockey Players from Canada to compete for Gold Medal at the World Championships.

The goal is to field teams that set extra-ordinary standards for competitiveness, sportsmanship and team continuity. To create a “life experience” for members of Team Canada.

Athletic activities are an important part of our youth’s life experiences and this is reflected in our achievement in inter-provincial competition. We are seeking outstanding individuals including, High Performance Director, Head Coach, Team Doctor, Therapist and Equipment Manager to be a part of our Team Canada program for each of our Junior U16, U18 & U20 teams.

The National Ball Hockey Association of Canada strives for excellence - in the quality of its players and community leaders and in the long tradition of athletic achievement. We are currently seeking a qualified candidate’s for the following contracts in preparation for the 2014 World Junior Championships.

Junior Team Canada Staff Job Descriptions

High Performance Director

  • Oversee the selection of Coaching Staff, including Head Coach, Assistant Coach (1), Team Doctor, Therapist, Equipment Manager
  • Head of Scouting
  • Provide Leadership in action and word to all team and staff members - To create a strong team based culture with inclusion of all Team staff including Assistant Coach, Team Mentors, Team Doctor, Team Therapist, Equipment Trainer
  • To create an environment of mentorship and training for all staff members, particularly the team mentors
  • Responsible for the coaching staff and related officials during all games
  • Responsible for clearly defining roles of the Assistants pre tournament and providing meaningful roles to assistants
  • Work towards positive inclusion (not necessarily floor time) of all team members
  • Work in conjunction with the GM’s in the selection of JTC players
  • To assist in the mentoring of the assistant coach and the team mentors in international competition

General Manager

  • Selection of Coaching Staff, including Head Coach, Assistant Coach (1),
  • Selection of Team Mentors
  • Selection of support staff including, Team Doctor, Team Therapist, Team Trainer
  • Coordinate scouting process and work in conjunction with coaching staff the qualification and selection of JTC
  • Planning and coordination of the WJC’s
    • Administration of Logistics involved in the WJC
    • Team Building program and monitoring of same during WJC
    • Support role during the WJC
  • Working with all team officials to ensure positive tournament results and provide leadership in action and word
  • To provide the necessary environment for the coaching staff to establish the right culture for success
  • Active participation in the High Performance program

Head Coach

  • Provide Leadership in action and word to all team and staff members
  • To create a strong team based culture with inclusion of all Team staff including
    • Assistant Coach, Team Mentors, Team Doctor, Team Therapist, Equipment Trainer.
    • One of the objectives of the JTC program is to create an environment of mentorship and training for all staff members, particularly the team mentors -
  • Responsible for the coaching staff and related officials during all games

    • Work towards positive inclusion (not necessarily floor time) of all team members
  • Responsible for the development of practices, game strategy and execution

Team Doctor

  • Collect and review medical history and consent form for players
  • Provide coach with health status of players before & during the event
  • Procure medical supplies

Therapist

  • Work with coach and doctor during the tournament
  • Procure therapy supplies
  • Deal with player needs during the event

Equipment Manager

  • Procure team supplies
  • Manage team uniforms and equipment before, during, and after games
  • Provide water and tend to player equipment needs during the mini-camp and JWC

Assistant Coach – to be appointed in consultation with the High Performance Director

  • To report to the Head Coach
  • To assist the head coach with the development of practices, game strategy and execution
  • Provide Leadership in action and word to all team and staff members
  • To assist with team during off floor times / dates
  • Active participation in the High Performance program
