Flames Too Hot To Handle

The Flames fresh off their qualification tournament win in Ontario were well aware of the odds against them playing against eastern province teams who travelled a lot less to Halifax in hopes of capturing gold.

The Vaughan Flames didn't much care about the odds beating a heavily favored home team, Golden Seals in the round robin to secure a spot in the semis.
The Golden Seals, with their only loss coming from the Flames, met the Goody's team from New Brunswick in the first semi, defeating them 5-3 to set up a rematch against the Flames, who got by a tough Huskies team by a score of 5-1.

The Flames struck first in the final, with a good solo effort by Dennis Di Biase. That goal would end up being the lone goal of the game as the Flames shut the Seals out to take the NBHAC Tier III Canada Cup.

Award winners from the Tier III Tournament

MVP Forward - David Cornacchia - Vaughan Flames
MVP Defense - Phil Moore - Huskies
MVP Goalie - John Doucet - Golden Seals
MVP Tournament - Chris Martin - Vaughan Flames

Halifax Ball Hockey League would like to thank the NBHAC for the opportunity to host the tournament.

Big thanks to the Halifax Regional Municipality Facilities for working with the host and NBHAC and of course to all the teams, staffs, game officials and spectators that came out to watch the great weekend of ball hockey.

We hope all that traveled to our great city, had some fun, both in the rink and out!

Thanks to all, and hope to see you at next years Canada Cup!"
