Toronto, ON – National Ball Hockey Association President Steve Rumsey announced Monday, November 5 the management team that will guide Women’s Team Canada into the 2013 World Championships in Toronto, Canada.

CINDY HORTON, executive member of the Toronto Women’s and Scarborough Women’s Ball Hockey Leagues will be making her fourth international appearance. Horton participated at the inaugural World Cup in 2005 in Pittsburgh and 2006 Slovakia as an assistant coach in 2007. She captained the 2005 team and was the leading scorer in the 2006 event in Slovakia.

Horton, who still competes at the Master’s level of play for Mac’s has represented Ontario at numerous national events and was one of the best players in the history of the game. This past summer she returned behind the bench at the Summer Games and Women’s Provincials to assist in mentoring the players.

“We are going to the World Championships to make all Canadians proud in 2013 and Cindy is just the person to lead the team,” said Steve Rumsey. “Cindy is well respected throughout the ball hockey world for good reason. She has served her community, league, province and country whenever called upon and we are thrilled that she will be leading our Women’s Team in 2013.”

Horton will work with assistant coaches also named, Mario Facciuolo and Stephanie White joining Beth Brotherstone, General Manager to the management staff that will put Canada’s team together.

MARIO FACCIUOLO, Head Coach of the Facc Brownies who won the Canada Cup and Women’s ‘A’ Provincials in 2012 and was recognized as Coach of the Year in Ontario. He also coached the team to their first Provincial Championships in 2009. His philosophy and attitude have brought all his teams great success and his teams take on his identity.

STEPHANIE WHITE, returns to the international game (2007 AC) as an assistant coach and her coaching resume includes winning a gold medal as head coach of Team Ontario Red at the 2005 National Women’s Under-18 Championship, as assistant coach of Canada’s National Women’s Team at the 2007 IIHF World Championship, and as assistant coach of Canada’s National Women’s Under-22 Team, both at the 2008 Air Canada Cup and at the 2010 MLP Cup. She also served as head coach of Canada’s National Women’s Under-18 Team for the 2008-09 season, winning silver at the 2009 IIHF World Women’s Under-18 Championship. She is a tactician and leader will give the 2013 team an opportunity to win gold.

BETH BROTHESTONE, executive member of the Toronto Women’s Ball Hockey Leagues will be making her fourth international appearance. Brotherstone participated at the inaugural World Cup in 2005 in Pittsburgh, 2006 in Slovakia and the inaugural World in 2007.

Brotherstone, who still competes at the Master’s level of play for Mac’s has represented Ontario at numerous national events and was one of the best defencmen in the history of the game.

“I am truly honoured and privileged to take on the role of General Manager for the National Ball Hockey Association of Canada going into 2013,” said Brotherstone. “I am also very excited about the group that we have in place, a group that has great experience at the league, provincial, national and ice hockey levels of play. She continued, ‘I know that we have the right mix in place to assemble a team that will make all Canadians proud in 2013.”

Brotherstone, Horton, Facciuolo and White will be meeting over the coming months to set in motion Team Canada’s operational plans, which will include player, support staff announcements and team logistics.
